About
Established in 2022, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge will enable 500 outstanding students from across Africa to enrol in a master’s course in Cambridge by 2030.
The programme actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion. Applications from women, refugees, internally displaced persons, and people with disabilities are particularly encouraged.
Our programme themes are climate resilience and sustainability. Recognising the wide range of expertise needed to address these complex challenges, students can apply for most full-time master’s courses available.
Everything you need to thrive
The scholarship includes everything students need to thrive in Cambridge and get the most out of this opportunity, including:
- Course fee
- Monthly living allowance
- Return flight
- Laptop
A community, not just a scholarship
Mastercard Foundation Scholars join a supportive network of young African leaders.
Our week-long orientation before courses start gives incoming scholars the chance to get to know each other and meet programme Alumni.
Then throughout the year, events including monthly socials, a weekend retreat, and a summer party bring Mastercard Foundation Scholars together to connect, share experiences, and strengthen their community.
