This past weekend, the Mastercard foundation scholars embarked on a team building retreat in the South Wales town of Manorbier. The retreat which took place from the 12-14th of January was aimed at providing a unique opportunity for the students to have a change of scenario, decompress and forge lasting connections with their peers.
The retreat kicked off with an ice-breaking activity designed to help the students bond and learn more about each other’s interests, each other cultures amongst others. Laughter echoed through the air in their Manorbier retreat location as the students engaged in team-building exercises, building the foundation for a weekend filled with collaboration and friendship.
Throughout this student led retreat, they had conversations about goal setting, resilience and thriving in the workplace. Some students provided valuable insights for their peers that will undoubtedly shape their academic journeys and beyond.
The retreat concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to supporting one another throughout their academic journeys. The scholars returned to their colleges on Sunday feeling rested and mentally prepared for the Lent term.
