About
Amirat Abdulsalam is a Nigerian student with a first class degree in Civil Engineering. She graduated top of her class and became the first female to achieve this distinction in her department.
Her academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to solving Africa’s transport challenges through AI. She aims to focus on developing low-resource, human-centred AI systems that improve road safety by predicting risky driving behaviours and enabling real-time, culturally adaptive interventions.
She is also passionate about empowering women in STEM. She co-organised Women in Engineering initiatives, and mentors young women pursuing careers in technical fields.
Amirat is pursuing an MPhil in Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence and aspires to advise governments and consulting firms on inclusive, AI-driven mobility solutions for African cities.
