Boitshepho Marakalala
About
Boitshepho Ivy Marakalala is a metallurgist from Botswana with a strong background in extractive metallurgy and mineral processing.
She was awarded the Prestige Prize for Best Final Year Student in the Department of Mining and Metallurgy in 2019. Her recent research has focused on the beneficiation and leaching of low-grade nickel and cobalt ores for battery metal production, which has deepened her interest in sustainable energy materials.
Ivy is pursuing an MPhil in Advanced Materials for Energy Transition, where she hopes to advance her expertise in materials such as graphite and graphene oxide and their applications in clean energy technologies. Following her studies, Ivy aims to support Botswana’s shift toward sustainable energy through research and innovation in advanced functional materials.
