Jéssica Julaia Bouché is a conservation professional from Mozambique. Trained as a marine biologist, Jéssica has spent the past seven years at BIOFUND – Mozambique’s Conservation Trust Fund. There, she led monitoring and evaluation systems that strengthen institutional performance, guide strategic planning, and support evidence-based decision-making.
She has also led environmental awareness initiatives and pioneered innovative financing mechanisms that advance biodiversity conservation by bridging science, policy, and creative leadership.
She was recognised as Mozambique’s Youth Ambassador for the Ocean and participated in the U.S. State Department’s prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program.
Jéssica believes conservation thrives when people and nature are valued and is committed to driving meaningful, lasting impact in Mozambique’s conservation sector.
She is pursuing an MPhil in Conservation Leadership, after which she aspires to strengthen conservation leadership and capacity-building in Mozambique and across Africa, advancing innovative solutions for sustainable development.
