Michelle Hadebe
About
Michelle Hadebe is a South African scholar of international development economics. She holds a degree in International Politics, specialising in Political Economy and African Studies from Georgetown University, where she conducted research across Rwanda, Poland, Washington D.C., South Africa, and Qatar.
Her work spans topics including development finance, geopolitics, and the political economy of global institutions. Deeply committed to equitable and locally grounded development, Michelle’s research explores how countries like South Africa can leverage their positions within global coalitions, such as BRICS, to shape a fairer global financial and economic system.
She is pursuing an MPhil in Development Studies and aims to contribute to development models that center African agency and unlock opportunities for historically marginalised communities.
