Surafel Alayou

Surafel Alayou is a physicist from Ethiopia. He is studying an MPhil in Physics after earning his bachelor’s degree in Physics from Bahir Dar University.

Growing up in Ethiopia, he saw that many people still lack reliable access to energy, even though the country has natural sources that could be used. He became interested in turning heat into useful energy and also sees solar power as an important part of clean energy solutions. 

At Cambridge, he hopes to build his knowledge, improve his research skills, and work with others to support the use of renewable energy for a more sustainable future in Ethiopia and beyond.
