Maureen Abel is a linguistic scholar from Nigeria who will be pursuing an MPhil in African Studies. Maureen obtained her first degree from the University of Port Harcourt where she graduated as the Overall Best Graduating Female Student with a first-class degree. Her research interests focus on leveraging indigenous languages to address contemporary challenges in Africa, particularly climate change. With her upcoming studies at the University of Cambridge, Maureen aims to expand her knowledge and contribute to the field of African Studies, fostering greater understanding and appreciation of Africa’s diverse cultures, languages, and socio-political landscapes.
