Atem de Kuek is a South Sudanese development and humanitarian professional who is highly motivated by people-driven policymaking. He will be pursuing an MPhil in African Studies at the University of Cambridge. He has previously obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication (with distinction) at Uganda Christian University, and an MSc in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from LSE. Atem is interested in how Africa’s socio-political and economic practices and norms like age sets, cows' ear-piercing identification, and social protections which have maintained kinships, peace, and environmental protection in ancient African societies, can be utilized to build prosperous African nations.
